Lilith's words inspire Hooty, and he decides to live up to them by going to help everyone. He discovers that King's voice is cracking and jokes that he's going through puberty, causing King to leave the room in frustration. Hooty tries to bond with Eda over King growing up, only to discover that she is tirelessly preparing herself for whatever Emperor Belos plans next. Hooty points out that whenever Eda stresses like this, it triggers her curse, but Eda leaves the room, blasting an air horn to stay awake. She then tries to voice her concerns about not getting home but blurts out her worries about impressing Amity instead, prompting her to run away out of embarrassment.

The Coven Day Parade

Luz and Hooty arrive in the nick of time, rescuing King from the Trappers just as Bill is going to stab him. When they arrive in a safe spot, King is confused and angry as he believed that the Trappers were going to play catch with him later, and that all he wanted to do was find a family to replace Luz when she inevitably left. Hooty insists to King that they saved his life while Luz reveals to him that he's a Titan. The Titan Trappers arrive and Hooty takes several shots and bolas for the trio but King, still in disbelief, tries to calm Tarak and the Trappers down, saying he's one of them.

Relationships

Hooty would later help King find out who is he and Eda connect with the Owl Beast. He abducts Amity to help Luz admit her feelings and love to her by making ride a tunnel of love he made in the basement to show Amity that Luz is in with her. At the mailbox, he meets a stranger who gives him a letter to deliver to King. After he leaves, Hooty gets distracted by a bug crawling on the letter and accidentally eats them both. During "Clouds on the Horizon", the C.A.T.T.s discuss a way to utilise Eda's curse to corrupt the Draining Spell and end it.

Trip to the Titan Trapper Island

Luz finds a secret map from Lilith and thus they track her and Eda to a remote cave on the Knee. After Hooty hurls up a shirt proclaiming "I GOT SACRIFICED TO THE GRAND HUNTSMAN" for Lilith as a souvenir, Luz explains their encounter with the Trappers, angering Eda as Lilith promised that the island was allegedly empty. As King does some soul searching on being the last of his kind, Hooty and Luz comfort him but Lilith, excited to have a deity as her nephew, starts treating him as such, even getting Hooty to bow as well which unnerves King.

After they return to the Owl House, they apologize to each other for their behavior and Hooty calls Lilith his best friend. She also offers to protect him from Luz, Eda, and King, who plan to draw faces on him. In "Keeping up A-fear-ances", Hooty is greatly saddened when Lilith decides to move back in with her mother, as well as the fact he cannot personally write to her, since he can't hold a pen. He is easily annoyed by the neglect which Eda and King throw at him, but nevertheless offers help if needed.

Voice

Later on, as Eda and Luz leave to retrieve some confiscated belongings, Lilith ponders on why she was rejected, to which Hooty suggests just treating King normally which she dismisses. However, the two quickly notice that King went missing so, using Hooty as a propeller, Lilith pursues him across the Isle, eventually finding King eating burgers with her old friend and former colleague Steve. Lilith once again resumes her fanaticism, but King quickly snaps her out of it, pointing out her concerning trend of worshipping authority. Steve also offers to find her a therapist, but Hooty is suspicious of the former Coven Scout and attacks. Regardless, Hooty, Lilith, King and Steve all go to Latissa where they regroup with Eda, Luz and the C.A.T.T.s to stop Belos's plan.

On the way to the post box, Hooty runs into a mysterious King-like figure, who asks him to deliver a letter to the young demon. Hooty accepts but accidentally eats it after seeing a bug crawling on it, causing him to dismiss it as junk mail. At the start of the second season, Hooty expressed interest in being best friends with Lilith. Initially, Lilith was put off by him, but when he helped her gather ingredients for a scrying potion by fighting with fire bees, they started to get along to the point Lilith gave him a nickname. Later, Hooty would accompany Luz, King, and Lilith to an island where King came from and then learned King is not the king of demons as he claimed but was found by Eda. The group then left the island with Jean-Luc who was protecting King the whole time.

Luz too is visibly shaken by her experience, but by the time of "Edge of the World", she musters the courage to reveal her findings. As such, he's planned a massive Draining Spell under the guise of the Day of Unity, sapping the life force of all coven members and killing them off. Luz feels extremely guilty for showing Philip the light glyph and helping him meet the spell's creator, the Collector when she time travelled in "Elsewhere and Elsewhen", causing her to tear up and cry. Hooty and King hug her to comfort her while Eda asks of Luz to hid from the Emperor's Coven, which she refuses to do so as she wishes to atone for her mistakes. Lilith, having been filled in on the details arrives, exciting Hooty so much he pukes up a pile of trash.

Early life

However, they cannot change their fates, and Eda and the Owl Beast choose to make peace with each other. When she wakes up, Eda has transformed, but not in her usual beast form; she has turned into a harpy-like creature that is a cross between herself and the Owl Beast and is also conscious and in complete control of her body. She realizes that, looks into a mirror on the wall, and is quite happy with what she sees.

Hooty awakens from his slumber and defeats them all with ease and is later seen having a "tea party" with some unconscious scouts. Fortunately during "Young Blood, Old Souls" Lilith is redeemed, Eda is rescued and the gang return to the Owl House safe and sound, albeit with Eda losing her magic to the curse. From the start of "Separate Tides", Lilith makes it clear that she did not want Hooty's help with collecting potion ingredients, but he still considers her his friend and tries to be the best friend he could. This consists of him calling her "Lulu" and following her when she was searching despite her protests. However, their relationship dramatically improved after Lilith realizes that she does, in fact, need help and Hooty comes to her rescue.

His skin and internal organs are removable, revealing that he has an owl-like skull and endless vertebrae. In "Hooty's Moving Hassle", it's revealed that Hooty possesses huge, avian legs under the foundation of the Owl House. As the walls also breathe, it seems that the entire Owl House is his body, which seems to be the case as its door is filled with Hooty's organs. Hooty also claims to be made of around "20% mucus", and possesses teeth within his gullet, with a diagram of his anatomy showcasing that he has two stomachs and more teeth along his digestive tract.

However, Eda also claims that despite his annoying tendencies, he still finds his way into her heart. Hooty is shown to be a jovial and very welcoming creature with a falsetto voice, often greeting visitors to the Owl House and trying to be accepted as part of a group activity. He is rather talkative and claims to have many stories of his experiences to share, but he rarely, if ever, gets to share them since most people, including the inhabitants of the Owl House, consider him to be annoying.
